Artist Statement: 

I chose the pelican and fish as my logo to represent myself, my love for animals, and as homage to my home town. I was born in Queens, NY and lived there for the first ten years of my life. Two months after i turned ten me and my family moved to a small beach town. As beautiful as it was, I couldn't help to feel sad and out of place. As I got older I started to appreciate the nature around me and I found myself walking to the beach a lot. I would watch the pelicans fly around and sit on the water. It became something that I did often. I wanted to keep the colors natural to that of an actual pelican, although the first one is based off the NBA team, the New Orleans Pelicans. As far as the fish, I wanted something to stand out against the fairly calm colors of the pelican. I ended up taking inspiration from some fish I used to own when I had a fish tank, they were called Cichlids, which are some of the most colorful freshwater fish in the world.
